1. About us

Secondopinionmedic.com is operated by Second Opinion Medic Ltd ("Second Opinion Medic", "we", "us", or "our").

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website, account area, and services, including the submission of medical information and supporting records for an independent written specialist review.

By using our website or services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms.

2. Our service

Second Opinion Medic provides a service through which a user may submit medical information and supporting documentation for review by an appropriately qualified specialist or consultant, who may provide an independent written second opinion report.

Our service is intended to offer an additional professional medical perspective based on the information and documents made available to us. It does not replace your treating doctor, local healthcare team, emergency services, or urgent in-person assessment.

Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing, our service does not include emergency assessment, urgent medical advice, prescriptions, ongoing clinical management, hospital admission arrangements, medical certificates, insurance reports, medico-legal expert witness work, or guaranteed outcomes.

3. Eligibility

To use our services, you must be at least 18 years old, or if you are acting for a child or another person, you must have lawful authority to provide information and act on that person's behalf.

You must ensure that all information provided to us is accurate, complete, current, and lawfully supplied.

4. No emergency use

Our services are not suitable for emergencies.

If you believe that you or another person may have a medical emergency, worsening symptoms, or an urgent health concern, you must contact emergency services or your local urgent care provider immediately and must not rely on our platform or any pending specialist review.

5. Nature and limits of the second opinion

Any report provided through our service is based solely on the information and documents supplied to us and any reasonable clinical assumptions that may be drawn from them.

A second opinion is an independent professional view, not a guarantee of diagnosis, treatment, recovery, or outcome. Medical opinions may differ between specialists. Any report should be considered alongside advice from your treating clinician or healthcare team, who remain responsible for your ongoing care and treatment decisions.

6. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for providing accurate, legible, relevant, and complete information and records, ensuring you have authority to share them, and seeking urgent or emergency care where appropriate.

We are not responsible for delays, limitations, or inaccuracies arising from incomplete, inaccurate, misleading, outdated, untranslated, or poor-quality information or documents supplied by you or on your behalf.

7. Specialist acceptance and case suitability

Not every case submitted to us will necessarily be accepted for review by a specialist.

A specialist may decide, in their professional judgment, that a case falls outside their practice area, that the documentation is insufficient to provide a meaningful report, that direct examination is required, or that the matter is otherwise unsuitable for a written second opinion.

We reserve the right to decline, suspend, or discontinue a case where we reasonably consider this necessary for clinical, operational, legal, or safety reasons.

8. Turnaround times

Any stated turnaround time is an estimate only, based on average case timelines, and is provided for general guidance.

Turnaround times are not guaranteed and may vary depending on factors including case complexity, the nature and quality of the documents submitted, requests for clarification, specialist availability, and clinical appropriateness.

A change in turnaround time does not entitle you to a refund, compensation, or price reduction.

9. Fees and payment

All fees must be paid in full in advance unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing.

Payments are processed through Stripe. By making a payment, you authorise the applicable transaction and confirm that you are entitled to use the chosen payment method.

10. Refund policy

Our fees are generally non-refundable.

No refund will be issued solely because a specialist does not accept a case, a specialist concludes that they cannot provide a report, or an estimated turnaround time is not met.

Turnaround times are indicative only and may change depending on clinical complexity, documentation, and specialist review requirements. In no other circumstances will a refund be issued except where a refund is required by applicable law.

By submitting a case and making payment, you acknowledge that our service includes case assessment, triage, document handling, administrative processing, and specialist review arrangements, whether or not a report is ultimately produced.

11. Communications

You agree that we may communicate with you by email and through the website in connection with your account, documents, case progress, service notices, and support matters.

You are responsible for monitoring the email address associated with your account and ensuring it remains accessible and secure.

12. Accounts and security

If you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access to your account or any other security breach.

13. Acceptable use

You must not use the website unlawfully or fraudulently, submit false or unauthorised records, interfere with the website or its security, attempt unauthorised access, upload malicious content, or use the service in a way that may damage our systems, users, or reputation.

14. Intellectual property

All website content, branding, design, text, graphics, logos, software, and related materials are owned by or licensed to Second Opinion Medic Ltd unless otherwise stated.

You may use the website and any report supplied to you only for personal, lawful, and non-commercial purposes unless we agree otherwise in writing.

15. Privacy and data protection

We process personal data, including health-related data, in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Data Protection Policy, which form an important part of your use of our services.

16. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation would be unlawful.

Subject to that, to the fullest extent permitted by law, we provide the website and services on an as available basis and do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or suitability for every case.

We are not liable for loss arising from delays, specialist non-acceptance, document insufficiency, differences in clinical opinion, or reliance on our service in place of urgent or direct medical care, nor for indirect, consequential, incidental, or special loss.

17. Complaints

If you have a complaint about our service, please contact support@secondopinionmedic.com. We will review complaints in good faith and aim to respond within a reasonable period.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version published on our website at the time of your use will apply.

19. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the use of our website or services.
